guides
This networking related guide will show you a quick way to access your router, networking devices, and even your favorite web sites.

Step 1
folder
Open up Windows Explorer and find your way to C:/Windows/System32/Drivers/etc and find your HOSTS file. It shouldn't be hidden.

Step 2
file open dialog
One way or another, open up your HOSTS file in Notepad or another text editor. Notepad is recommend for ease and formatting.

Step 3
hosts file
Here's the important part. Enter the address (192.168.1.1) of the router. Skip a space and enter in your custom keyword. For example, we simply used "router" and add a "#" directly behind it. You may also do this for any other sites you frequently use. We added our modem address for example. Save the file and your done.

Step 4
address
Open up your favorite browser and try it out. If all worked well your new keyword should work.

Step 5
tracert
Also, a nice feature of doing this is when you do a tracert you'll be easily able to identify your router and other devices.
