Upgrading to Linux from a VX Works Router
FAQ

Is it worth the risk?
In my opinion, yes. The chances of "bricking" or destroying your router are quite low. Thousands of people have successfully upgraded their routers using these instructions.

What are the Login Details for DD-WRT?
Username: root
Password: admin

I Can't Connect to the Router!
You've simply lost your IP address. You need to manually set these values.
Windows XP:
Control Panel>
Network Connections>
Right Click > Local Area Connection>
Scroll > Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)>
Properties>
Select > Use the following IP Address:>
IP: 192.168.1.99
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Can I Set my own MAC Address?
Yes, to customize to your own MAC Address, download this. Use that file in place of Step 3.

Do I need to repeat this process to upgrade firmware? No, once you upgrade to Linux, you can upgrade among various firmware packages without doing the process.
